Wildlife Conservation Expedition in South Africa
Experience Africa’s large game such as lion, leopard, elephant and hyenas whilst gaining conservation and game reserve experience on this incredible wildlife research expedition based in two stunning locations of the Limpopo Province, South Africa. Volunteers will learn to monitor wildlife using tracking skills and telemetry (for collared predators) developed on the week long training program. Volunteers may also possibly get involved with the darting and fitting of radio tracking collars to lions and leopards to further research work. Volunteers can also apply their new knowledge and enjoy the cooler air during satellite camps to some of the breathtaking mountain habitats participating in conservation and biodiversity studies. Volunteers will build upon their training, gaining knowledge and developing practical field skills throughout their time on the program ensuring a well rounded, education and rewarding wildlife volunteering experience deep in the African bush.

Volunteer on a Monkey Conservation Project in South Africa
Getting involved with world-class conservation work on this volunteer project will take you to enjoy the variety of wonders that South Africa has to offer. GVI supports The Vervet Monkey Foundation, a sanctuary for over 700 primates (of which most are vervet monkeys), which is in need of volunteers who are prepared to become completely involved in the care and rehabilitation of these wonderful wild animals. Get involved in a progressive educational program in a township primary school situated just outside Stellenbosch and 35 minutes from Cape Town. This exciting new volunteer program aims to assist children develop their literacy and numeracy skills as well as their conversational English through dedicated one-on-one coaching or tutoring sessions. GVI together with the teachers at this primary school have designed specific 2 week programs to help children who are struggling with English and who are falling behind their peers in reading and writing. Volunteers will be given approximately 8 students who have been selected by their teachers for each 2 week rotation. This specifically designed program covers part of their curriculum as well as some fun and creative exercises which will help the students progress and grow in confidence.

Conservation Volunteering in the Greater Kruger National Park
The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve comprises 53 392 hectares of private land adjoining the Kruger National Park (KNP) on its western boundary in the area known as the Greater Kruger National Park. There are no fences between the KNP and Timbavati with the wildlife roaming free between these areas. There are over 40 mammal species in the Timbavati including the Big Five of Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant as well as 360 species of bird life.
