Volunteer Programs with Local Homestays in Thailand
Global Service Corps (GSC) offers opportunities for participants to live in Thailand homes while volunteering on service and development projects. Participants live with families who generously introduce their culture, cuisine and customs through excursions and daily interaction, providing a unique cultural experience not to be forgotten! The projects foster grass-roots collaboration, skills-building, and cross-cultural understanding. We help developing communities learn to function more sustainably, while expanding the perspectives of participants as responsible global citizens. Project areas include international health, English (EFL) instruction, HIV/AIDS prevention training and Buddhist immersion. Volunteer with Primates in Thailand
Join GVI and help care for primates at a sanctuary for injured and abused gibbons in Thailand. This project is located in a mountainous region of the country and has been running since 1991. It houses over 40 gibbons and monkeys at any one time. Once removed from the wild, gibbons are usually unable to live autonomously again, and the continued existence of this center is essential for the gibbons that live there. In preparation for your work you will receive orientation and training, including language workshops and adventure activities. As a volunteer you will assist with the day-to-day running of the sanctuary including feeding, cleaning and caring for the baby apes. There are also opportunities to partake in fundraising and environmental education outreach programs as well.

Volunteer in Thailand at an Elephant Refuge
Globalteer is a registered charity in the UK providing ethical and affordable volunteering with the amazing elephants of Thailand. The elephant project gives a safe sanctuary to Thailand's domesticated elephants. These animals would otherwise be roaming the streets of big cities, be kept in bad conditions at working elephant camps or be otherwise exploited in the tourist industry. Volunteers provide hands on assistance to the professional Mahouts (elephant keepers) to ensure these beautiful animals live a life as close as possible to their wild relatives. The elephants spend their nights in the forests that their ancestors populated only 25 years before. Volunteers bath and wash the elephants daily, walk them through the forests to forage, clean their enclosure and learn all about these magnificent animals.

Globalteer is a registered charity in the UK providing ethical and affordable volunteering with the amazing wildlife of Thailand. The Thailand Wild Animal Rescue Centre is dedicated to the rescue and re-habilitation of Thailand's wildlife. Many of Thailand's animals are illegally traded, abused in the tourist industry or maltreated. The rescue centre was established to provide these animals with a safe home as close to their natural environment as possible. The sanctuary is home to approximately 200 animals from 32 species.

Sea Turtle Project in Thailand
Founded in 2003 with support from the nearby Ranong Coastal Resources Research Station, this project is based on a biosphere reserve established to protect the most extensive mangrove forests remaining in Thailand. Volunteers help the research team monitor the beach for turtle nests, learning how to identify turtle tracks, find nesting turtles, and record tag numbers. Volunteers should be in good physical condition and should have an open, flexible attitude, a genuine love of animals, and the ability to work long hours out of doors. Accommodation and working conditions are rustic, but the areas surrounding the projects are beautiful and the rewards of making a difference to these fascinating creatures are immeasurable. CCI is a non profit founded in 1985 and run by experienced and enthusiastic travelers who participate regularly in their own cultural exchanges.

Gibbon Rescue Project in Thailand
Volunteer to help save the endangered gibbons (small monkeys) in Thailand. The project is locally run with support from the Thai government and the Asian Wildlife Fund, and is located on Phuket, a beautiful tropical island just off the coast from Bangkok.
